Habits I Picked Up Whilst Travelling

Finding Time to Read When your budget is small and you can’t afford to go to the MOMA in NYC or shop till you drop on Fifth Avenue… You go to the park and read. As it might be your cheapest option. I found myself reading a lot more whilst travelling because firstly, I had an abundance of time for myself, secondly it was free (if you already have a book) and thirdly I just enjoyed being able to stop, sit-down and take in my surroundings whilst reading a great story. Keeping Up With My Skin-Care Routine There is no excuse for getting sloppy with your skin-care whilst on holiday. You have all the time in the world!!! It also helps to believe in the products you’re using. I took a trip to Glossier the first second I got to New York (read here) and bought a bottle of Milky Jelly Cleanser. The whole experience of buying it directly from the Glossier Penthouse then using it for the first time and being blown away, has made …

24 lessons for 24 years

So yesterday, I turned 24 years old! I love my birthday because it gives me a chance to reflect on how life was a year ago. Looking back and being here today, life has definitely taken a turn for the better and so many lessons have been learnt. Some of these lessons I need to remind myself of daily, some are imprinted on my mind. I wanted to share with you some of the most inspiring quotes I’ve read, I’ve learnt and still teaching myself about, so you can be the best version of yourself too.. 1. When you stop censoring yourself and show people who the real you is, the right people will come into your life. 2. You are not your status, you are not the money you make. 3. The amount of effort you put into something, is the same amount of effort you get back. 4. Things that have happened to you, do not define who you are. 5. By giving myself more time, attention and space, I have more to …

Why I Chose To Travel Alone

Fellow lone travellers can agree that there are so many perks to adventuring solo. If you’re on the cusp of taking a solo trip but you have a few doubts, I’m here to reassure you, you’re on the edge of a great thing… 1. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want, with whoever you want. That’s right, complete freedom! You can do whatever. you. want. If you want to get up at 4AM to watch the sunrise, nobody’s gonna tell you no. If you want to spend a whole day shopping, you can. If you want to just relax in your hotel all day, you can! It’s completely up to you. It’s up to you whether you want to hang out with others too, if you’re staying in a hostel, you’re going to meet super fun people, so the option to be with people is always there. But if you want to just be on your own, you can. You set the rules! 2. It’s being completely independent. I’ve always been quite an …

Steps Towards Minimalism

The act of minimalism is essentially, cutting the crap out of life to get to the good stuff. Minimalism makes me ask myself, what is actually important to me? Why do I own so much stuff?? I’ve come up with a few pointers that I want to be thinking about everyday….. Stop spending money on products you don’t need/want. With influencers on every social media platform showing you what they got sent to their P.O box, you may feel like you need to go out and buy that amazing new eye-shadow palette that ‘so and so’ was raving about. Before you get wrapped up in all the excitement of a new product ask yourself if you really need it, will you still be using it in 2 years time? I’ve wasted so much money on cult products that I thought were going to be life changing and actually they’ve just been added to the huge pile of beauty products that were tried and tested. Don’t be fooled by advertisements telling us ‘You need this in …

February Favourites

February has been another whirlwind month for me & I can’t quite believe it’s March already… One of the reasons I love writing monthly favourites, apart from sharing with you the things I love, is that it’s an opportunity for me to check in with you guys on a more personal level… February has been such a fun & social month for me and I’m actually surprised at how much managed to fit into 28 days… After dreadful January finally came to an end, life started moving at a very fast pace. I’ve become totally aware that this year is going to be dramatically different from the past two and it’s been this past month where i’ve been planning & really thinking about my future. I can safely say it’s going in the right direction. I’m starting to carve some sort of path out of what I want to do in life & February has been the month I feel like i’ve made real progress… Anywho, over sharing aside, lets talk about all the things i’ve …

Farewell 2016, Hello 2017!

Bose SoundLink Mini | Iced Cinnamon Rolls Candle | Macbook Pro | Kindle PaperWhite | Hand Cream | 2017 Planner | mug | Sony R100 mkiii | Rings (vintage) I think it’s safe to say, 2016 has been a really crap year for everybody… Whether you live in the UK and your heart was broke by the results of the EU referendum or you have Donald Trump as President… We’ve all had a tough time. So many celebrity deaths I’ve lost count, multiple terrorist attacks and a refugee crisis. That’s what’s been happening in the world, let alone so many of us experiencing our own personal loss and incredibly difficult times. But if you’re reading this, you’re one tough cookie and you’ve made it to 2017! One thing I have come to understand about tough times is that they always, without a doubt, make you stronger and even more determined to do better. Thats what 2016 gave us, the strength and determination to go above and beyond. I’ll be totally honest with you, I haven’t felt …

O.O.T.D Winter Survival

coat | backpack (similar here) | jeans | shoes Winter is here and this time I’m officially prepared! I don’t know about you but I’m never ready for Winter to arrive. It turns November and I’m stuck with my unlined parka and I’m freezing. This year I took the plunge and invested in a coat that’ll hopefully last me for the years ahead. I chose a puffer coat due to its ability to keep so much heat in. I could wear a T-shirt underneath and it would still keep me warm! (Although if you live in colder climates I’d probably not recommend testing that out) I also decided to ditch my beloved polka-dot tote bag I made for myself and replace it with something more durable and as much as I hate to admit, I’ve really enjoyed having a sturdier bag. I love the feel of wearing a back-pack because if it gets too heavy, its easier to carry than having a bag that hangs off one shoulder. I’ve linked all the items featured in this …
