The Cronut by Dominique Ansel

Dominique Ansel Bakery Why have an avocado smoothie for breakfast when you could have a Cronut?! It’s about that time of the year where my conscious eating goes completely out the window and I stock up on mince pies and other sweet things. Today I tried something I’ve never tried before. A cronut! Created by the famous N.Y.C pastry chef Dominique Ansel, It’s a pastry that resembles a donut and is made using croissant dough which is then filled with a ganache or jam then fried in oil. They make only one flavour a month, So I’ll be back in January to try their next creation! December Cronut Flavour Gianduja (hazelnut milk chocolate) and English Rose Jam The cronut is crispy and delicious, filled with creamy hazelnut ganache and a thin layer of rose jam. That way you can taste a few different desserts without feeling so guilty! They …

6 Awesome Toast Toppings

This weekend I decided to get a little creative for brunch, because sometimes marmite just doesn’t cut it… With my boyfriend on toast duty I decided to whip up some fun and super easy toast toppings for our weekend brunch. As I’m always up super early in the week I tend to have a quick breakfast such as cereal or porridge, but when it hits the weekend and I’ve had a long morning in bed I like to make something special for brunch. I think this idea would be great for when friends are coming over, or you have a lot of kids to feed. It was so much fun to create, it looks great and the flavour combinations are pretty unique compared to the usual peanut butter and jam! [jelly for you U.S readers]. Here are the ingredients you will need to make each topping: 1. beetroot hummus & sliced radish 2. Nutella & sliced strawberries 3. Peanut butter, sliced banana & cinnamon 4. Hummus, sliced cucumber & basil 5. Smashed avocado, sliced …

Easy Homemade Pesto Recipe

Starting off with a classic. Let me just mention this before we get into this blog post. All, I repeat all recipes I share with you are going to be easy as pie and cheap to make. I’m one of those people who loves to cook but doesn’t have much patienceĀ and I’m always too hungry to be marinating, baking, etc. The quick and easy recipes I’ve learnt living independently are delicious and I can’t wait to start sharing them with you. Pesto is a very simple yet delicious alternative to your regularĀ Neapolitan sauce. I make my pesto with cashew nuts because 1. they are a hell of a lot cheaper than pine nuts and 2. cashew nuts were all I had in the house one time and it turned out to be a masterpiece. P.S one time I tried walnuts and it was a BIG mistake. [In my opinion stick to pine or cashew nuts]. Some add parmesan which is a great addition, I chose to stay clear of the dairy this time and save …
