Momofuku Milk Bar, N.Y

Always wanted a birthday cake flavoured ice-cream? Look no further. I got you covered! While the weather has been perfect for it, I couldn’t come to NYC and not review an ice-cream place. Actually famous for their naked cakes and crack pie (google it ya self) they sell amazing soft-serve ice-cream too. Their most popular flavours are ‘cereal’ which is literally the flavour of cereal milk and ‘b-day’ the flavour of vanilla cake. I opted for the ‘b’day’ flavour purely for the cute sprinkles. 🙂 I thought I’d found an off-the-beaten-track place but there are actually 9 stores spread across New York. So if you’re not in the East Village like I was, there is probably another store 20 mins away! Location: 251 e 13th st, ny 10003, corner of 13th street / 2nd avenue Opening times: sun – thur 9am – 12am | fri – sat 9am – 1am MILKBARSTORE.COM Advertisements

Glossier NYC Showroom and Haul

Since I first set foot on American soil, I knew that I needed to visit Glossier… The showroom is set in a Penthouse on Lafayette Street. While there’s hustle and bustle on the streets below, up above there’s a skin-care haven (with air-con) just waiting to be explored… Starting off as an online-only brand, seeing the products in real-life was so exciting! Everything in store is to be tried and tested… Once you’ve decided what you would like, ask one of the reps to write down your order and then take it to over to the cashiers who will pick out your products from their teeny stock room! The showroom itself is immaculate and it was like being in my dream apartment. The staff were super friendly too, they’re the type that will help if you need it, but won’t bother you or pressure you into buying anything. Love! Now, onto the Haul! Milky Jelly Cleanser I’m super intrigued to try this as I’ve heard really great reviews! You use it as a make-up remover …

How To Get This View.. For FREE

The highlight of my trip so far, has not been the cheap but delicious iced-coffee from Dunkin’ Doughnuts. Instead, a view of Manhattan I’ll never forget… Craving an experience I would remember for a lifetime, I starting searching the net for ‘unique views of Manhattan‘ and ‘Things you have to experience when in NYC‘. “I may never be here again” I told myself, I have to soak it all up. So after discovering information online about the Staten Island Ferry, I head straight to Whitehall Street Metro station (I took the W line all the way down from Queens) Then hopped onto the ferry, for free! ‘The Staten Island Ferry is a free passenger ferry shuttle operated by the New York City Department of Transportation. It runs 5.2 miles in New York Harbour between the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island. The ferry operates 24/7.’ If you come to New York, you have to experience this. The feeling of freedom you get being out on the water, the fresh, clean air and getting …

BAOHAUS: Best Buns in NYC!

Two brothers Eddie and Evan Huang opened up this food spot back in 2009 changing every thing people knew about taiwanese-chinese food…. “As kids, they worked in their father’s Steakhouse down South but instead of staying, they decided to share the homestyle Taiwanese-Chinese food they ate at home. When Eddie quit his jobs as an attorney/hustler/street wear designer, they decided to set up shop in a 400 square foot, subterranean, bomb shelter at 137. They didn’t do it just to sell baos, but instead create a mouth piece for the social, cultural, and political issues they cared about. Since 2009, they’ve gone home to feed 200+ homeless families in Orlando, Won the Chow 13 for groundbreaking use of social media, stuck up for Danny Chen, opposed the Tiger Mom, and accidentally hot boxed a restaurant in plain view. Some sh*t be happening some time naw mean?”  Onto the menu, it’s minimal so you could end up ordering everything, which I firmly support if you’ve got the hunger! I ordered the fried fish bao and the …

Solo Travelling: New York

After completing my first 24 hours in New York City I feel confident enough to tell myself… “Hell yeah YOU did it!!!!” The lead up to my flight was quite stressful because, me being me, I left everything until the last minute. I’m talking important things like travel insurance and converting my £ to $. So after accepting my unorganised self, I got on with it as best I could and you know what? I made it to New York in one piece, with my luggage intact. After many sleepless nights and text messages from worried friends, I was starting to re-think the idea of doing this on my own. So many things can go wrong! I miss my flight, I get lonely, I run out of money, I get lost in a city I don’t know… All of these things could of happened or might still happen. However, I’ve made it this far and I wont let fear overtake the huge feeling of accomplishment. Travelling alone on an aeroplane full of strangers, successfully finding …
