Momofuku Milk Bar, N.Y

Always wanted a birthday cake flavoured ice-cream? Look no further. I got you covered! While the weather has been perfect for it, I couldn’t come to NYC and not review an ice-cream place. Actually famous for their naked cakes and crack pie (google it ya self) they sell amazing soft-serve ice-cream too. Their most popular flavours are ‘cereal’ which is literally the flavour of cereal milk and ‘b-day’ the flavour of vanilla cake. I opted for the ‘b’day’ flavour purely for the cute sprinkles. πŸ™‚ I thought I’d found an off-the-beaten-track place but there are actually 9 stores spread across New York. So if you’re not in the East Village like I was, there is probably another store 20 mins away! Location:Β 251 e 13th st, ny 10003, corner of 13th street / 2nd avenue Opening times:Β sun – thur 9am – 12am | fri – sat 9am – 1am MILKBARSTORE.COM

BAOHAUS: Best Buns in NYC!

Two brothers Eddie and Evan Huang opened up this food spot back in 2009 changing every thing people knew about taiwanese-chinese food…. “As kids, they worked in their father’s Steakhouse down South but instead of staying, they decided to share the homestyle Taiwanese-Chinese food they ate at home. When Eddie quit his jobs as an attorney/hustler/street wear designer, they decided to set up shop in a 400 square foot, subterranean, bomb shelter at 137. They didn’t do it just to sell baos, but instead create a mouth piece for the social, cultural, and political issues they cared about. Since 2009, they’ve gone home to feed 200+ homeless families in Orlando, Won the Chow 13 for groundbreaking use of social media, stuck up for Danny Chen, opposed the Tiger Mom, and accidentally hot boxed a restaurant in plain view. Some sh*t be happening some time naw mean?”Β  Onto the menu, it’s minimal so you could end up ordering everything, which I firmly support if you’ve got the hunger! I ordered the fried fish bao and the …

Easy Banana Bread Recipe

When a friend hooked me up with an amazing recipe, I had to share it with you guys! So this is my first time making banana bread! I can’t believe I’ve never made it until now. It was delicious, but I’ll be honest and say it didn’t rise as much as I’d hoped for but thats probably because my oven is really, really crap. But now I know to keep it baking in the oven for a little longer than usual. The preparation is super easy and all you need is a few simple ingredients…. Ingredients 5 bananas (4 for the mixture, one to slice and decorate the top of the loaf) 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla bean paste 150g caster sugar 2/3 cup of oil (I used coconut) 175g plain flour 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda Method 1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees 2. Blend with whisk or food processor 4 bananas, eggs, oil, vanilla and caster sugar in a bowl until combined. 3. Sift in the plain flour, cinnamon and …

3 Ingredient Pancake Recipe

When I first discovered this recipe I thought there was no way the outcome would be light and fluffy pancakes. However, I was proven wrong. The result is pancake perfection and the ingredients are essentials you’ll find in your cupboard so don’t worry, you wont need to fork out a loan for anyΒ fancy, wholefood ingredients! All you need (serves 2) 2 bananas 1 cup of oats 1 cup of milk (can be cows milk, soy, almond, whatever you fancy) (1 cup = 128g) Method 1.Preheat a frying pan to medium to low heat, add a teaspoon of oil (coconut is my fav otherwise whatever you’ve got to hand will work, if you have a non-stick pan feel free to opt out) 2.Blend your oats in a high speed food processor or blender until it reaches flour-like consistency 3.Add banana and milk of choice to blender then mix until combined Β 4.Add around 2 tbsp of pancake mix to the pan creating a round shape 5.After 1 or 2 minutes, flip the pancake over. Cook for another …

How To: Smoothie Bowls

A smoothie bowl is one of the easiest breakfasts to prepare, they’re full of nutrients and so pretty you kinda don’t want to eat it… I love making smoothie bowls for breakfast as they’re fun to create and easy to whip up in a matter of minutes. There are no specific rules on what should or shouldn’t go into your recipes, my end goal is to always get as much nutrition in as possible. For the following recipes I’ve used mostly fruit but you can use veg too. As I said, there are no rules! So once you’ve decided whats going in the base, then comes the toppings. This is the most creative part! You can literally choose anything you want, whether you want it to be super nutritional or just aesthetically pleasing. Favourite toppings: chia seeds, coconut, carob sauce (similar to melted chocolate), berries, granola, cacao nibs. All you need to prepare one is a blender (I’ve linked below some of my favourite ones) METHOD step one – place smoothie base ingredients into a …

Palm Vaults Cafe, Hackney

Plant – Based, pink hues and succulent filled, this cafe is all your Instagram dreams come true… I’ve wanted to visit Palm Vaults for a while now, this week I finally got the chance to head over to east London to see what all the fuss was about. I can safely say it doesn’t disappoint. Firstly, the interior is incredible, very 70’s inspired with pink velvet seats, gold decor and hanging plants. Secondly, the menu is completely plant-based meaning veggie/vegans will adore it. On the menu is everything you could imagine and more, tea, coffee, multicoloured lattes, smoothie bowls, juices, and too many delicious brunch options. I ordered a ‘Velvet Latte’ and Toasted Brioche with Biscoff and chocolate inside, It was delicious! But lets talk about the Velvet latte as I know your probably dying to know how they made it… A velvet latte is completely caffeine & dairy free. It’s made from almond milk, vanilla and beetroot. As I’m not a big coffee drinker this was right up my street, I’m definitely going to …
