A smoothie bowl is one of the easiest breakfasts to prepare, they’re full of nutrients and so pretty you kinda don’t want to eat it…
I love making smoothie bowls for breakfast as they’re fun to create and easy to whip up in a matter of minutes. There are no specific rules on what should or shouldn’t go into your recipes, my end goal is to always get as much nutrition in as possible. For the following recipes I’ve used mostly fruit but you can use veg too. As I said, there are no rules!
So once you’ve decided whats going in the base, then comes the toppings. This is the most creative part! You can literally choose anything you want, whether you want it to be super nutritional or just aesthetically pleasing.
Favourite toppings: chia seeds, coconut, carob sauce (similar to melted chocolate), berries, granola, cacao nibs.
All you need to prepare one is a blender (I’ve linked below some of my favourite ones)
step one – place smoothie base ingredients into a high speed blender and blend till combined
step two – pour into a jar or bowl
step three – top with things like granola, nuts, berries, coconut, etc.
Mango & Passionfruit
Mangos are my favourite fruit so I’m absolutely in loooove with this recipe! I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert. Mango makes it super creamy and the passionfruit adds a sour kick.
1 mango, 1/2 passion fruit, handful of chia seeds, coconut water
Topped with: Coconut shreds, 1/2 passionfruit, goji berries, dried cranberries
Acai Berry Blast
Blueberries & Acai make this a complete winner in my eyes. Rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C, Iron, Zinc & Fibre, eating this for breakfast everyday should keep you healthy over the remaining winter months.
1 banana, 1 cup frozen raspberries, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 a cup frozen blackberries, 1 tsp Acai powder, 1 handful of chia seeds, coconut water
Topped with: Coconut shreds, desiccated coconut, goji berries, blueberries, chia seeds
I made this as a pure treat to myself. Strawberries, oats and almond milk make this a super creamy recipe and with the added spoonful of Biscoff it adds that biscuit-base element and creates a bowl of cheesecake perfection.
2 cups strawberries, 1 cup raspberries, 3 bananas, 1 handful of chia seeds, 1 handful of rolled oats
Topped with: 1 spoonful Biscoff spread, Sliced strawberries, desiccated coconut, goji berries, chia seeds, almond milk
