My Daily Skin Care Routine

rose water | pai cleanser | konnyaku sponge (similar) | good genes by sunday riley | witch hazel

Perfecting ones skin care routine is honestly a lot of hard work.

From my early teens I’ve been testing all sorts of lotions and potions not knowing that puberty was a b***h and that I was just gonna have to wait it out. When I hit 16 however, it started to settle down and thats when I really started learning about my skin.

My skin is sensitive. Oh so sensitive to anything. Sunlight, harsh winds, Alcohol, A hot bath, you name it. It probably affects my skin. Only in the past year have I been using products that treat Rosacea…

‘A condition in which certain facial blood vessels enlarge, giving the cheeks and nose a flushed appearance.’

Obviously it affects everyone differently. It’s actually a very common condition and you may not realise you have it which is great! Essentially its just someone with very pink cheeks. Before I started practicing a proper skin care routine you could definitely say I was ‘suffering’ from rosacea. Now, not so much. My cheeks & nose are still a little flushed as there is no guaranteed way to cure it (yet). But these following products have definitely reduced redness over time and helped me so much with my sensitive skin.

So let me talk you through some of the wonderful products I’ve been using to battle dryness, sensitivity and redness.

1. Konnyaku Sponge in Bamboo Charcoal – an all natural vegetable fibre face and body sponge – for gentle deep cleansing and exfoliation. A small but incredible little sponge I use after my shower before I start using any products on my face. I run it under the tap, sometimes I add two drops of tea-tree oil if I have any spots, then use it to gently massage my face in a circular motion. Rinse again then hang up to dry in an airy space. Truly a great addition that turns my skin silky smooth.

2. Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser – A gods send perhaps? The creator of Pai skincare actually suffered with Rosacea herself for many years so it was a no brainer for me, she knows what affects sensitive skin the most. Its a super gentle cleanser that simply glides over my skin making it feel soft and hydrated. It’s alcohol and detergent free and also not tested on animals. I’ve been using this for over a year now and I cant see myself straying any time soon!

3. Natural Rose water & Witch Hazel – I use cotton pads to apply but also keep a spray bottle in my fridge with 1 part rose, 1 part witch hazel and the rest filtered water. I’ve actually been using both these products for many years now, even when I was a baby my mum would use them to soothe my skin. But only recently have I been using them as part of a daily routine. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness and maintains the skins PH balance. Witch hazel also relieves inflammation of the skin and is said to work wonders for acne. Both products give such a soothing sensation to the skin and have definitely helped.

4. Good Genes by Sunday Riley – Here we have my daily moisturiser. A newbie to my regimen and the most expensive product I’ve ever bought myself. I’ve only been using this for a month but can already tell you great things. As soon as you apply it you can really feel it working and you instantly achieve a dewy glow. I love it! Any product that makes me not want to wear make-up is a gooden in my books.

And thats it guys! If you have any questions about skin products or finding your own routine don’t be shy in the comment section. I’m here to help!
